Message from John Baxter
As you are aware, the Social section have approached me about running a Macmillan Coffee morning this year. The idea of running the event was initially put on the back boiler, this being to the uncertainty of Covid restrictions. However, it appears to have gained support with even our chairman giving his blessing for the event.
Given these factors, we (myself and members of the Social committee) are pushing forward with a somewhat smaller version of the Coffee morning at the Club on the morning of 24th September.
I am now needing your help with making the event a success. We are hoping to offer as many “features” run in previous years as possible. you know the type of thing: treasure hunt, Grand Prize draw, Bric-a-brac, Christmas cards, Jigsaw puzzle exchange and even an outdoor event (weather permitting) of a Prize “nearest the bottle” bowls shoot.
The entry to the coffee morning event is only £3 which includes Coffee and a slice of cake.
WE NEED HELP, mainly from members willing to help out on the day. We also need homemade cakes for the event and to sell on during the event. We need items for the bric-a-brac stall and the prize draw, you know the sort of thing, stuff given to our members at Christmas and the likes that are occupying valuable space at the back of the wardrobe !. And Jigsaw puzzles. We hope to run a stall that part exchanges puzzles and sells gifted puzzles.
Please ask members to leave their gifts in the bow on one of the tables inside the club.
If you could send this email out to members of the club and especially Eddie Poore, I would be grateful.
In previous years the club members have supported this event so very generously, heres hoping the same support can continue this year.
